I was chatting with two women that were there to match their toy puppies when the judge (Florance Graham of Graphic Poodles) walked past us and commented on what a gorgeous puppy Winnie was.
We walked over to the ring to watch the conformation matching and the Florance asked me if I was entered. I wasn't. She insisted that I do a day-of and match.
Well Winnie was the only mini pup so we "won" that class but she ended up "winning" best puppy of the match. There were only 4 pups (2 toys, Winnie and a Standard pup) to choose from but still! The feedback that I got on her was very, VERY good. = ) Winnie also came away with 3 squeaky toys and we got to take our picture with the judge.
We have been going to conformation handling class and Winnie seems to take to this "work" very naturally. I am trying hard to learn what I need to know to present her well.
The judge wanted to know where I got Winnie and asked for a copy of her pedigree. She also invited me to her house to give me some help on grooming/handling.
Another Poodle friend of mine saw Winnie for the first time. She said that Winnie is breath-taking and that I had no idea "what I had".
Winnie was initially wary of the other dogs - giving them a wide berth and whining..... we kept walking around and by the end she was almost completely comfortable passing by most dogs crated or walking around.
I was very pleased with (and proud of) my little Winners today.
