I started with luring her a step or two and then giving her the kibble. Yes I was using her dinner. Then we did a full circle for 1 treat. Next we tried position changes - We tried stand-to-down and got it on our first try. I tried a few more times but she wouldn't go all of the way into the down. So I rewarded successive approximations and ended up with her going into a "bow". We also tried a few sits (quite cute). At this point Dolce comes trotting into the kitchen.
Quick shift of gears and we practice distributing treats after I announce the dog's names.
- Mollie: "Dolce"
- Dolce - eats kibble
- Mollie: "Winnie"
- Winnie - eats kibble
- Mollie: "Dolce"
- Dolce - eats kibble
- Mollie: "Winnie"
- Winnie - eats kibble
Next we worked eye contact for Winnie while Dolce practiced a sit stay. It was still 1 kibble for Winnie = 1 kibble for Dolce.
Next I tossed a kibble for Dolce to search out (about 5' towards the laundry room) and then tossed 1 for Winnie to search out (about 18" towards the dining room).
Our fun little session ended when Winnie abruptly squatted and peed on the floor.
Damn!!!
